Nestled conveniently off I-12, this intimate yet lively space offers an inviting atmosphere that balances local charm with a polished dining experience. The venue caters well to both casual gatherings and special occasions, making it an ideal spot for anyone craving fresh seafood served with Southern hospitality.

Many guests noted servers who guide confidently through the menu, anticipating questions and offering tailored recommendations. This attentive care enhances the overall experience, making patrons feel genuinely valued. The restaurant’s setting is cozy but well-maintained, lending an intimate vibe that contrasts with larger, more commercialized seafood establishments. This quality makes it especially appealing to couples, food enthusiasts, and locals who appreciate a refined yet approachable dining environment. Parking is ample, and the central location in Covington ensures easy access without sacrificing a sense of retreat from busier city life.

Overall, Half Shell Oyster House delivers a memorable dive into Louisiana’s coastal cuisine with an emphasis on freshness, flavor, and genuine hospitality. It’s a place where the seafood speaks for itself, the staff elevates the meal, and visitors leave eager to return — whether for a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner celebration.

I all most do not want to share the local hangout as our lunch experience was so AMAZING. From the moment Wendolyn our waitress came and introduce her self and said she was taking care of us Kudos to her. We had some of the best Darn oyster from LA, they were so good and tasty!!! If it was not for price for dozen we could of easily had 3 dozen. Lunch menu is great if you want smaller portions. The wine selection is just okay. This is where they could improve in a better selections of white and red. If we lived near bye I would make this restaurant a regular weekly hangout. The whole experience was outstanding.

I'm so happy that my sis suggested this place for our date because it was phenomenal! From the time I entered the establishment, I was met with cordial smiles and timely attention. Food: I can't speak enough on the preparation of the dishes. I ordered the sampler platter which consisted of Mahi Mahi, shrimp, boudain balls, a crab cake & fries. I subbed the fries for the house salad (the goat cheese & vinegarette was yummy), seafood Gumbo, Jalapeño hushpuppies & added charbroiled oysters to my sampler. Everything was astounding. My sis ordered Redfish Orleans: Blackened redfish topped with Gulf shrimp sautéed in our original Orleans sauce. Topped with lump crabmeat and Parmesan cheese. She chose the Sweet Potato Creme Brulee with Honey Butter & Cajun Boiled Mashed Potatoes as her sides. Warning: the Orleans sauce is an oily based sauce. That Sweet Potato concoction is something special. Mondays are Margarita Mondays, so the cocktail is only $6! You can get fancy with premium liquor for $8. Moreover, they were pretty good. Flavors can be added for 50 cents. Verdict: I will be back sooner than later.

The waitress didn't know what ingredients the food had and didn't bother to go to the kitchen to ask before we ate. She was asked three times about crawfish in the cornbread dressing and three times she said no. The manager on duty came to the table after we finished our meal and said there was crawfish in the dressing. I spent the next 6 hours in emergency with IVs, pills and on monitors... Don't trust the waitress ask a manager if you have questions about the food...

Went for an anniversary luncheon and it was an amazing time. We were seated quickly and the waitress was kind enough to take pictures of us. It not like the other Half Shell houses, it a bit tighter a little smaller and more intimate setting. The food was amazing, I've never been let down by any of the half shell restaurants. There was a mix up with my food initially but the waitress quickly handled the situation and kept my wife and my good vibe rolling! The atmosphere would've probably been better had it be dinner but lunch was ehhhh . Overall, its tough to give 5s but this is one of those it can be all 5s but I'm not that critical but a 4.9 overall. Angel Wings burbon/whiskey. Server recommended it and it was phenomenal.

Everything about this place was pretty awesome starting with the WONDERFUL service my party and I received from Ali. Do yourself a favor and request her as a server. She knows the menu like she wrote it. No matter how many questions we asked about the food or drinks she was ready from descriptions to suggestions all while smiling and treating us like we were her friends. Thank you Ali! The restaurant has plenty of parking and easily accessible off of I12. There wasn't any wait on a Friday night but there was plenty of people there. The food was delicious. The oyster was fresh which is always a plus. I do recommend ordering some of those crab claws with the cajun sauce and the fried okra! Oh my goodness they were special. All of the food was pretty delicious and came out really quick. This place should be on a list of MUST try for yourself!

Great food, service, and atmosphere! I ate with 5 other adults for a work dinner. We all enjoyed our dishes. I have included a photo of the royal red fish that I was able to enjoy.

***Update*** Not only were they quick to respond and fix the issue, the kindness was beyond comparison to any other company. That is the only reason we decided to return. We finally returned on Monday and the service and food was astounding. We got Oyster orleans, snaw crab claws in an Orleans sauce, shrimp and grits with a side of red beans, 2 red fish orleans with broccoli, 2 loaded potatoes, asparagus, and filet orleans with red beans and loaded mashed potatoes. The food was amazing. Hot, fresh, and quickly out to our table. I'm very disappointed with our visit tonight. This was my fiance's favorite restaurant so we chose this for his birthday dinner. We ordered appetizers and drinks as soon we got seated. After a 20 minute wait we got our drinks and ordered our food. A hour later the food came cold and no appetizer. It completely ruined his birthday. Very very disappointed.
